We are very excited to be supporting the vision of our welfare worker Rommie who is transforming a piece of very rural land he owns into a church, school and community facilities to support the local community.
The church has already been built and is functioning with a congregation of 80+. Mens’ and womens’ study groups have been established. Rommie is working alongside his wife Mary as pastors of the church.
A garden for people for socialising is taking shape and an area for growing crops to support families is well under way.
The school currently consists of benches under a mango tree but construction of more permanent classrooms has already started.
Gilead is supporting the project with regular financial gifts and a ladies group at Rugby Baptist Church have caught the vision and been very generous with their financial support for Lukenko.
Rommie’s vision is transforming the lives of local people are very are delighted to be playing our part in it.
